For more than two decades, our family of businesses has helped people move into new chapters of their lives. Through The Charming Foundation, our 501(c)(3) nonprofit, we extend that mission by furnishing homes for families and individuals in need throughout Montgomery County and the Greater DMV.

Our Mission

The Charming Foundation began as simple generosity from our moving customers and has grown into a powerful community initiative centered on dignity, sustainability, and second chances. A furnished home brings peace, comfort, and hope — and we aim to give that to every family we serve. Our mission is grounded in three commitments:

Who We Serve

The Charming Foundation provides furniture, essential household goods, and full home setups to under-resourced families, seniors, and individuals rebuilding their lives. Our goal is to ensure no family ever moves into an empty home. Specifically, we regularly furnish homes for:
Families transitioning out of homelessness
Single parents starting over
Seniors who lack support
Individuals recovering from domestic violence
Community members facing unexpected hardship
Our Process

How Our Program Works

Serving Montgomery County & the Greater DMV Area, The Charming Foundation is based in Rockville, MD, and accepts furniture donations from Charming Movers customers only. Our three-step process is listed below:
Step 1

Furniture Donations From Charming Movers Customers Only

To maintain consistency and quality, we accept furniture donations exclusively from current Charming Movers customers as part of their scheduled move.

Customers simply let our team know which items they’d like to donate. Our crew evaluates the items on-site and transports approved pieces directly into the Foundation’s program.

Step 2

Selling Some Donated Items Online

Not all donated items are needed immediately for furnishing a home. Some items are carefully selected and sold online, and 100% of the proceeds help fund our mission. This revenue allows us to purchase items we always need, such as:

New mattresses
Bedding and linens
Kitchen essentials
Cleaning supplies
Tools and materials for home setups
Step 3

Professional Movers Deliver & Set Up the Furniture

Financial donations directly support the professional movers who deliver and set up furniture for families in need. Every home is delivered with care, attention, and dignity — just like one of our paying customers. Your contribution helps cover:

Trained moving labor
Truck delivery
Transportation and fuel
Assembly and room setup

The Charming Foundation

The Charming Foundation is a fully registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. We provide official tax-deductible donation receipts for (i) Financial contributions and (ii) Furniture donated by Charming Movers customers. Your generosity is both impactful and tax-advantaged.

Charming Movers customers can donate gently used, functional items as part of their move. Our team handles the rest.

Some donated items are sold online to raise funds for furnishing homes. Purchasing or sharing these listings helps more families receive complete home setups.
